Description
I paint using “French Gutta Serti Technique” of silk painting that requires sketching the outlines of the design with gutta, an extract from Malaysian rubber. The painting is done with dyes instead of paint. Gutta prevents the dyes from spreading beyond the boundaries and intermixing. The colors are fixed by steaming in a special steel container for hours. Then it is dry cleaned to wash off gutta. The result is silk painting of vibrant colors with original luster of silk intact. The colors become an integral part of the silk and appear on both sides.
The silk has been procured from the finest silk weavers of Mysore, India. My hand-paintings are inspired by my deep love of nature and are an attempt to portray the beauty that exists in the world we live in.
We recommend dry cleaning for long lasting use.
